Charity Chairperson

Role:

Provides overall leadership and strategic direction for the charity that governs the club.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the charity’s mission "promoting inclusive sport for children with disabilities" is upheld.
  • Lead the charity board in setting long-term goals, priorities, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with charity law, safeguarding regulations, and financial governance.
  • Represent the charity publicly and at community or partner events.
  • Oversee fundraising strategy and partnership development.
  • Support and appraise key staff or lead volunteers (e.g. club chairperson, development officers).
  • Chair charity committee meetings and ensure decisions are implemented.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, transparency, and accountability.

Charity Committee Members

Role:

Support the governance, oversight, and strategic development of the charity.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend committee meetings and contribute to decision-making.
  • Support and monitor delivery of charity objectives and club programmes.
  • Assist in fundraising, sponsorship, and awareness campaigns.
  • Ensure financial accountability and approve budgets or expenditure.
  • Provide expertise or representation (e.g., legal, safeguarding, disability advocacy).
  • Support volunteer recruitment and recognition.
  • Act as ambassadors for the charity within the community.

Club Chairperson

Role:

Leads the sports club’s operations, ensuring activities run smoothly and align with the charity’s vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Chair club meetings and ensure good communication between volunteers, coaches, parents, and the charity board.
  • Oversee the club’s day-to-day management and strategic planning.
  • Ensure all sessions are inclusive, safe, and enjoyable for all children.
  • Support the welfare officer and coaching staff to maintain safeguarding standards.
  • Manage volunteer recruitment and ensure adequate training and supervision.
  • Represent the club at local sports networks, disability forums, and governing body meetings.
  • Ensure the club adheres to policies on equality, safeguarding, and health & safety.

Club Secretary

Role:

Manages club administration and communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep accurate records of meetings, decisions, and membership.
  • Handle correspondence between the club, parents, partners, and governing bodies.
  • Manage club registration, insurance, and affiliations.
  • Maintain up-to-date safeguarding and consent documentation.
  • Support event planning, fixtures, and training schedules.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are distributed and updated annually.
  • Provide administrative support to the chairperson and welfare officer.

Club Welfare Officer

Role:

Leads on safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion for all children and young people within the club.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for child welfare or safeguarding concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation and the charity’s policy.
  • Maintain confidential records of welfare concerns and report to relevant authorities when required.
  • Support safe recruitment of volunteers and coaches (DBS checks, training).
  • Promote inclusive practices and ensure children’s voices are heard in decision-making.
  • Provide regular safeguarding briefings and training to staff and volunteers.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and local safeguarding partners.

Club Head Coach & Development Officer

Role:

Leads the delivery of safe, inclusive, and high-quality sports sessions for children with disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and review weekly coaching sessions tailored to varied abilities and needs.
  • Lead and mentor assistant coaches and volunteers.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and fun sporting environment.
  • Identify and support pathways for children to progress in sport (local, regional, or national opportunities).
  • Ensure health and safety standards during all activities.
  • Collaborate with the welfare officer to manage behaviour, wellbeing, and accessibility issues.
  • Support the development of new programmes, outreach, and partnerships with schools or community organisations.
  • Maintain up-to-date coaching qualifications and safeguarding training.
